Syrian Refugees – Latest news

Refugee crisis Apr 16

These Syrian refugees have found a sanctuary at last, not in Bristol (I don’t have any photos yet) but the smiles say it all.

Three families have now arrived in Bristol and are thrilled to be in a safe place. They are settling in gradually but finding the adjustment quite tough. One child had never lived in a house before and, for all of them, the culture is very different. They are getting lots of support from the Council and volunteers and they are keen to make the most of this new start.

I’d like to thank everyone who donated household items and toys as well as money. It was amazing – in about three days we had all we had asked for and more. I have enough toys for the next 10 years, I think! We are expecting more families soon and a steady stream over the next few years, so there will be other opportunities to contribute. In the meantime, we appreciate your prayers for the refugees and for those who are working with them. Please pray also for peace in Syria and the Middle East, a real and lasting peace that allows people to flourish and grow and to live normal lives free from fear.
