Partnership work with Lawrence Weston Baptist Church

Westbury Baptist Church has a close relationship with Lawrence Weston Baptist Church (LWBC). Lawrence Weston is an urban estate a couple of miles from Westbury-on-Trym. It ranks in the top 10% in the country for many measures of deprivation. For a long time Westbury Baptist Church has invested in the pastoral care of LWBC. We’re supporting Mary Clark as she trains for ordained Baptist ministry whilst working for and in LWBC. Sheila Cooper, who used to be our Associate Minister, remains the Minister of Lawrence Weston Baptist Church and supports Mare enormously. Also about a day a week of David’s time is spent resourcing youth, children’s and community work at LWBC. Many of the Westbury Baptist congregation are involved, regulary or for special events, in voluntary work in Lawrence Weston.

We believe firmly that Jesus calls us to work together. We can achieve so much more when we are working alongside one another, sharing our insights, gifts and resources.

Here is a short lively story about some work that we were inolved in together – with the help of the West of England Baptist Association and funding from Home Mission – and we hope that it will inspire and encourage you and your church wherever you are.
