Home groups meet regularly in homes or at church, during term time, on Tuesday & Thursday evenings, & Friday mornings. Approximately 60 people regularly attend one of the groups each week with others attending on an occasional basis.
Even though we generally (though not always) study the same material; the style and format of each group varies, ranging from traditional to contemplative to questioning. The range of ages attending groups is wide, from young people in their early twenties to older members well into their retirement years. No matter what the style or age range of the group, our aim is to strengthen friendships within the church congregation and deepen our understanding of God and our role as Christians in the neighbourhood and wider world through studying the Bible and group discussion.
A typical Home Group meeting includes some time for a coffee (or sometimes food) and catching up on news, followed by a study of the Bible usually using prepared notes and then a time for prayer for people and situations important to the group members. Some groups are led by one or two nominated leaders, others take leadership in turns.
One of the home groups is particularly geared up for young adults (which is not to say that a young adult can’t be a part of the general home groups or that someone who thinks they don’t fit that description isn’t welcome!). It meets in the Foyer at church on Thursday evenings.
Home Groups always welcome new members of every age and stage in the Christian walk.
