Pastoral care: is a healing, sustaining, guiding activity, rooted in genuine Christian faith, which leads one or more people to engage in a more Christ like way with God, others and themselves. (Colin Norris, our Minister from 2008-2010)
Pastoral care takes place: where two or more people meet, in the context of Christian faith, share friendship, love, trust, forgiveness and acceptance -through the engaging with one another in scripture, prayer, worship, listening , accountability, counselling or practical help and care.
Pastoral care is supported by:
- The pastoral care focus team – who meet regularly to share, think and pray with particular concern for the overall strategy for the development in this area of church life
- The pastoral care coordinator – who assesses needs and communicates information to those who have pastoral care responsibility, as well as making available the ministry of prayer, visiting in homes and hospital, and communion and CD’s of services to the housebound.
- The pastoral care team – who serve the church and community by visiting those unwell at home and at hospital and in care homes, delivering flowers and CD’s of services , as well as befriending and caring listening and praying and sharing the love they themselves have experienced within their relationship with God.
