Our service on Sunday mornings has two distinct parts. ‘Part one’ begins at 10.30 am with some relatively informal, whole-church-worship for all ages and is a complete act of worship. It includes songs, prayers of praise, confession and praying for others, reading from scripture, and a ‘thought’. This usually runs for about 25 minutes and concludes with a blessing. After this children and young people leave for their family church groups in other parts of the building. The timing varies particularly on special occasions such as all-age communion, or believer baptisms. After the blessing, at the end of part one, those who are wanting to sample worship with us, or who prefer or need a very short service, are able to leave.
‘Part two’ worship takes place in different parts of the building. More adult orientated worship runs alongside family church groups until around 11.45 when squash, tea and coffee are served. The service is mixed in style and draws on the best of new and old. It includes songs and hymns, and a variety of other contributions such as occasional interviews, drama, and songs or anthems from our singing group or choir, prayer for others and a talk based on one of the Bible readings.
We share communion on the third Sunday of each month and on other occasions. A few times a year we make it particular priority to share communion in Part One and all ages are welcome to take part according to their wishes.
